The Full Story of Sama Yoga East Dulwich
HEALTH& CONFIDENCE
Sama Yoga Studio began with two friends who shared a deep belief in the power of yoga. Both had experienced how it transformed their health and perspective on life.
Yoga offers a pause from modern life — from busyness, overstimulation, and stress — and invites us to reconnect with our bodies. Whether through quiet introspection or dynamic Vinyasa flow, it restores balance and awareness. Regular, informed practice can ease both mental and physical challenges, helping people tune back into their body’s signals and take charge of their emotional, physical, and energetic wellbeing.
YOGA FOR EVERY BODY:
Everybody deserves to feel happy and healthy and this is our purpose:
At Sama Yoga, we offer a quiet, supportive, and inclusive safe space where students can find what they need on the mat. Accessibility is at the heart of what we do. Our lead teacher, Madeleine, specialises in guiding those with injuries, limited mobility, or low movement confidence — people often overlooked in commercial classes. We keep our groups small to ensure everyone receives personal attention and practices safely.
Yoga isn’t about flexibility or advanced postures; it’s about connection. Whether you’re brand new or a long-time practitioner, we have a challenge for you !We aim to help you become stronger, more mobile more balanced and confident — in body, mind, and nervous system.
All you need is an open mind
KINDNESS OVER PERFECTION:
Alongside inclusivity, kindness is at the heart of our studio. Yoga is a practice of self-work — helping us become our best selves so we can better serve others. On the mat, insight grows into wisdom, wisdom into understanding, and understanding into love and kindness.

MADELEINE TOMBLESON
Yoga alliance certified teacher
I began my teaching journey with Yin Yoga - a practice that shifts perspective, calms the nervous system, and invites deep physical and mental release. I chose to train in Yin first because it was the practice that made me realize what Yoga was all about, and offered a philosophy that I find essential in daily life.
Then I went to Bali to train in traditional Hatha Yoga and holistic health. Health is my reason for teaching and for being a yoga and health practitioner.
I believe people deserve to feel in control of their health - mentally and physically, which is something I see many people struggle with around me. It’s hard to feel in control of your health, but yoga offers a great way to access this.
Yogic science is such a beautiful and complete system for bringing whole health into your life. With a healthy body, mind, and positive energy, your life can transform.
I teach through a functional and scientific approach - one that holds space for healing, spirituality, and whatever reason brings you to the mat.
I love building bridges between the eastern science of yoga and western understandings of the body and mind, helping people make sense of the practice and truly feel its benefits.
By blending these two perspectives, I aim to create a balanced approach that empowers individuals to integrate yoga into their lives for lasting physical and mental well-being.
