The Full Story of Sama Yoga East Dulwich

Sama Yoga Studio began as an idea between two colleagues who had a shared belief  in the system of yoga. They had both experienced the effects it can have on ones heath and perspective and knew its effects were more important than ever now.

Yoga provides a chance to step out of our modern day problems; days that are too busy, life that is over stimulating, stressful at times deeply pressurising and connect back to your body. This may come from the deep retrospection and contemplation of a stiller practices or shutting everything out and flowing with the breath and body in Vinyasa.

They new that the common health problems both mental and physical could be soothed, healed and managed by a regular and informed yoga practice. A lot of people have become out of touch with the body and its signals, they live in pain or stress and don’t know how to manage it. Others are not even aware of their mind or bodies state. Yoga is simple but effective practice that lets people re-connect with the bodies signalling and thus become in control of their health emotionally, physically and energetically.
At Sama Yoga we hope to offer exactly this; A quiet, safe space away from the world outside, that is  supportive, inclusive and helps students find what they needed on the mat.

Their second drive behind opening a yoga studio was accessibility. Their lead teacher Madeleline and specialised in teaching people with injuries or who had lost natural mobility ( ease of movement) or confidence in movement and saw that commercial classes by and large were not the right place for a lot of people to practice. They left people feeling Inadequate or injured.

Therefore they wanted to create a more intimate space with small class sizes, holding the priority of everyone getting the most out of their practice.

How advanced your Asana is or how naturally flexible you are is nothing to do with how good you could be at yoga. It doesn’t matter if your exploring yoga for the first time or already love the practice our classes are for you.
We hope to help you be stronger, more flexible and mobile and well as more healthy in all the tissues of your body including the central nervous system.

More than ever now we want to use the powerful teaching of yoga and its physical effects to spread peace and kindness to counter the violence and lack of kindness that is pretty prominent right now.  we come to the mat to feel good in ourselves so we can give it to the next person…

MADELEINE TOMBLESON

Yoga alliance certified teacher

I began my teaching journey with Yin Yoga - a practice that shifts perspective, calms the nervous system, and invites deep physical and mental release. I chose to train in Yin first because it was the practice that made me realize what Yoga was all about, and offered a philosophy that I find essential in daily life.
Then I went to Bali to train in traditional Hatha Yoga and holistic health. Health is my reason for teaching and for being a yoga and health practitioner.
I believe people deserve to feel in control of their health - mentally and physically, which is something I see many people struggle with around me. It’s hard to feel in control of your health, but yoga offers a great way to access this.
Yogic science is such a beautiful and complete system for bringing whole health into your life. With a healthy body, mind, and positive energy, your life can transform.
I teach through a functional and scientific approach - one that holds space for healing, spirituality, and whatever reason brings you to the mat.
I love building bridges between the eastern science of yoga and western understandings of the body and mind, helping people make sense of the practice and truly feel its benefits.
By blending these two perspectives, I aim to create a balanced approach that empowers individuals to integrate yoga into their lives for lasting physical and mental well-being.
