1. What is Yoga Practice?
Yoga is an ancient philosophy with many different perspectives, interpretations, aspects and applications. It is a science that can be understood and used to bring about health in the mind body, heart and spirit. Through Kindness, awareness and contemplation you can gain a peaceful way to live in a healthy body ( asana) healthy mind ( breath) healthy heart and emotional body ( meditation). 2. What are the benefit of practicing Yoga?
Yoga can improve flexibility, strength, posture, and balance. It also supports mental clarity, reduces stress, and promotes emotional well-being. Over time, it can become a lifestyle that encourages self-awareness and inner peace.
3. Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?
No. Yoga is for everyone, regardless of flexibility, age, or fitness level. With regular practice, your flexibility will naturally improve, but it is not a requirement to begin. At Sama Yoga we really want to be a studio for anyone who wants to practice yoga regardless of your limiting beliefs. Yoga is for everyone !
4. What should I bring to a yoga class?
Comfortable clothing, a yoga mat (if you have one), and an open mind. Sama Yoga classes provide mats and props.
5. What is Vinyasa Yoga ?
Vinyasa Yoga is all about using a steady and regular breath and syncronising it with your movment to create a flow of movement. The regulated breath ahelps to calm the mind,bring your awarness to the body. Another Pillar of Viyasa is your focus point. You use a focus point to createa private space and shut out your surroundings. Movement follows a repeated sequence with variations added to build a flow.
6. Can you practice Yoga on your period ?
Of course you can! It as with any other time of your cycle depends on how you feel. If your feeling tired definateley slow your practice down pick a more restorative practice like yin yoga. Sometimes you feel your most powerful on your period and your strongest. Their are some poses such as inversions to be avoided. Your body is your best teacher so listen and take a practice that feels right. Don't do a pose if it doesn't feel right.
7. Yoga Positions/poses for beginners
Of course this depends on the person and their abilities. I think it is good to learn the poses that a lot in a yoga class. I have listed a set of poses to start of your yoga practice with: Downward facing, Standing Forward fold, Plan, Up dog/cobra. Seated Twist , Cat cow, High Lunge. 8. How often should I practice yoga?
Even practicing once a week can bring benefits. Ideally, 2–3 times per week helps you progress and feel the changes more deeply. The most important thing is consistency. There are no short cuts in yoga. consistent practice is the only way to progress. Start with once a week and add as feels good.
9. Can beginners do yoga?
Absolutely. Many yoga classes are beginner-friendly. At Sama Yoga, we welcome students of all levels and guide you through practices with compassion and clarity. We also Offer a 5 week beginners yoga class which you can complete before joining our all level classes. This is a great idea if you need some extra clarity and confidence.
10.Can I eat before a yoga class?
It’s best to practice on an empty or lightly-filled stomach. Ideally, avoid heavy meals for at least 2 hours before class. A small snack (like fruit or a few nuts) about 30–60 minutes beforehand is okay if you need energy.
11. What's the cancellation policy?
Refunds aren’t provided for missed classes. However, you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your class, and you’ll have 30 days to do so.
